HERE'S WHAT’S GOING ON IN YOUR PARKS

At Spring Rock Park the items completed to date:

• The upper and lower parking lots have been paved and striped.
• The new playground structure at the former sight of the in-line rink is installed and open for use. Restoration is underway.
• New and improved drainage at Waldo Erickson Drive and Burlington Avenue, as well as the north side of lower area has been completed.
• Internal asphalt paths at the Picnic Pavilion and main play structure are installed.

Items that remain to be completed:

• Final SRP landscaping –we anticipate two days for completion and is also weather dependent.
• Installation of new lights for the upper parking lot .
• New lights, wiring and controls for the East Tennis are on order and awaiting delivery.
• New fence and backstop for Matt Orth Field is underway.

At Sereda, Springdale and Ridge Acres Parks

The new playgrounds have been completed! Stop on by and have some fun! Restoration around the new playgrounds is near completion.

TAKE NOTE~

The Park District, in cooperation with Western Springs Little League, Lyons Township Soccer Club and Western Springs Football, has installed a Lightning Prediction and Warning System in Spring Rock Park. This system scientifically monitors, in real time, the electrostatic field in the immediate area and predicts the probability of a lightning discharge. If the probability is likely that a lighting discharge is in the area, a warning horn is sounded. If you hear the warning horn, please leave the park and seek shelter immediately. After the probability is gone, another horn is sounded to indicate all clear. This will improve the level of safety we are providing to all the users in Spring Rock Park.

The second annual Movie in the Park was scheduled for Friday, August 7th, 2009. Unfortunately due to rain the event was postponed. We apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused and look forward to seeing you on our rain date – AUGUST 16th (please note the date change). “Kung Fu Panda” will start at dusk. There will be popcorn and water available in the Pavillion. Should Mother Nature not comply, please call our Park District office at 246-4225 for further information.

A portion of the proceeds from each Tasting Menu ordered during July and August will be donated to the Friends of the Parks Foundation and in turn will pour right back into your parks and its resources.
