Who we are

The Western Springs Park District, formed in 1924, began with various parcels of land that eventually would make up Spring Rock Park, the District's largest park. Through the years the amount of park property has expanded, with the Park District now preserving over 90 acres of park space, spread across 13 parks throughout Western Springs.

The Park District is its own governmental taxing entity and is governed by a Board of Commissioners. The Board is composed of seven Western Springs residents who are elected to four-year terms. This policy-making board is responsible for maintaining the Park District and ensuring adequate financing and competent staffing of the Park District.
